Dr.
Suhaila Halasa, associate professor in the Department of Maternal and
Child Health Nursing at the School of Nursing, University of Jordan
and the accredited evaluator for nursing programs by the Association
of Arab Universities and for academic programs by the Commission for
Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education
Institutions, participated as an official spokesperson and organizer
of the training workshop organized by the Quality Assurance and
Accreditation Council in the Association of Arab Universities in
cooperation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in
Nursing (ACEN) under the title:
“ACEN
accreditation standards, policies & processes, how to be prepared
for ACEN Accreditation”
Which
was held on 2-3/11-2022 in Amman. The workshop aimed to discuss the
process of applying for international accreditation for nursing
programs (Accreditation Commission for Education In Nursing/ACEN), by
discussing the criteria for accreditation for the years 2017 and
2023, and how to write and formulate Program Intended Learning
Outcomes (PILOs) for academic programs. Furthermore, the workshop
focused on the most important experiences and challenges faced by the
nursing schools in Arab countries during the process of applying for
ACEN until obtaining it, and how to adapt and address those
challenges. The Nursing Schools of Al-Isra and Al-
Hashemite
Universities presented their current experience while applying for
international accreditation (ACEN). The Sultanate of Oman, Saudi
Arabia, Tunisia, Iraq, Kuwait, Palestine, the University of Jordan,
and the Applied Private University participated in the workshop.
