As part of a series of plans pursued by the University of Jordan, the Professional Development Committee of the school of Nursing organized a workshop titled "Practical Guidelines for Designing Fair and Sufficient Exam Questions to Assess Student Learning".
The workshop, presented by Dr. Brenda Moore, Associate Professor at the School of Nursing at Texas Woman's University - Houston Center, Director of the International Nursing Center and expert in modern nursing learning methods, discussed assessment methods, standardized question types, measurement of outcomes, curriculum objectives, global policies of international accrediting institutions, and what to avoid when creating exam questions.During the workshop, attended by faculty members from the school, as well as nursing faculty from Jordanian universities, postgraduate students, and clinical supervisors from various government and private healthcare sectors, Prof. Areej Othman, the Dean of the College, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of holding such workshops in light of the competition to obtain international accreditation and enhance the academic reputation of Jordanian university graduates in various disciplines to achieve prestigious rankings in global classifications.Dr. Nadine Abdelrazzak, the Chair of the Faculty Development and Professional Development Committee, stated that this workshop is the first in a series, and it will be followed by another workshop titled "Rethinking Strategies for Clinical Education and Assessment to Improve Clinical Thinking and Decision-Making among Healthcare Students". This workshop will take place next week from June 26th to 28th, with a duration of 6 hours.At the end of the workshop, attendees presented several suggestions that serve their practical perspective on student assessment and the teaching process, contributing to increasing the knowledge and technical inventory of the School's students. They expressed their gratitude to the School for organizing such specialized workshops.
