The School of Nursing hosts the Palliative Care Gathering on 02/04/2016.

The School of Nursing cordially hosted the Palliative Care Gathering on Thursday, 02/04/2016. 
The gathering, which came as an initiation of the Jordanian Society for Palliative Care and Pain Treatment, allowed the opportunity for leaders and professionals in palliative and pain management to discuss contemporary issues in palliative and pain management in Jordan.

Attended the meeting over 50 experts and interested audience. This had included health care professionals from public and private hospitals as well as deans and faculty members of health related colleges from across the country.

The meeting started by a welcoming speech by Professor Fethieh Abu-Moghli, the dean of the College of Nursing.
Chairman of the Jordanian Society for Palliative Care, Dr. Mohammed Bushnaq, then followed by a valuable and up-dating presentation on the current status and challenges of palliative care in Jordan.
This was followed by an insightful speech by Dr. Frank D. Ferris, MD, the Executive Director of Palliative Medicine, Research and Education at OhioHealth in Columbus, Ohio, who highlighted the importance of this specialization and the necessity of working on integrating it into the health care practice as well as in health education.

The gathering was adjourned by an open discussion with the presenters. The attendees agreed on the importance of activating the palliative care specialization in response to appeals by the World Health Organization and the countries of the developed world in order to alleviating the pain and suffering and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The attendees also agreed to support the process of Assembly and its Strategic Plan by facilitating the work of the health care staff and the professionals who recently were enrolled in the palliative care diploma program at JU-College of Nursing.
